Traffic Modifications for Sunday’s Kinetic Sculpture Race

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation advises motorists of traffic modifications in effect for the Kinetic Sculpture Race scheduled this Sunday, June 14, 2015.

The race will begin and end at the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) on Covington Street. Participants will run the following 15-mile course through the Inner Harbor and surrounding neighborhoods:

•10:30 –11:00 Opening ceremonies & start at AVAM
•11:00 –11:15 Race along Key Hwy and Battery Ave into Federal Hill Park
•11:15 –12:15 Race down Riverside, Fort, Lawrence, and Key Hwy past the AVAM, around the Inner Harbor, President to Katyn Circle to Aliceanna, along Boston Street to Canton Waterfront Park
•12:00 – 1:30 Canton Waterfront Loop
•1:30 – 1:45 Race up Kenwood, Eastern and Linwood into Patterson Park
•1:45 – 3:45 Patterson Park Obstacle Course
•4:00 – 4:45 Race down Lombard, Central, Eastern, Pier 5, Pratt, Light, Key Highway, Lawrence, Fort, Jackson, Clement, and Covington to the finish line at AVAM (finishers may begin arriving as early as 4:15)

During the event, Covington Street will be closed to through traffic between Key Highway and Cross Street from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect. In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants wherever possible along the race route.

Motorists traveling in these areas should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the event for the safety of participants. Commuters should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
