If you were unable to attend last night’s LPCA general meeting, here are some highlights:
•2014 Budget- approved by the Community
•Website – the old website’s URL is mapping to our new site. Visit http://www.mylocustpoint.org.
•Newsletter – we are in need of volunteers to help write articles. Contact the communications committee if you’re interested.
•Latrobe Park Bathhouse – the Community voted to support the City’s recommendation to demolish the existing bathhouse. A new sub-committee will be formed for those interested in collaborating with the City on future designs for the new structure. Contact the LPCA if you’re interested.
•Citizens on Patrol (COP) Walk – Wednesday, June 18. Meet at 7:00 p.m. at Himalayan House on Fort Ave.
•Social – volunteers are needed for festival cookie making and the day of the festival. We will need at least 40 volunteers on Saturday, Aug. 23 to make the cookies and a lot more for the festival (Saturday, Sept. 20). Contact the Social committee for more information.
•Parking – Steve Robinson from the Residential Parking and Permit program (RPP) addressed questions from the Community regarding the process for exploring permit parking in select areas of the neighborhood. There will be follow-up discussion at future meetings.
•Presentation from Mark Sapperstein – the Community voted to write a letter of support for the expansion of 1215 Fort Ave. (Phillips site). Also, Mark along with the management company of McHenry Row Apartments, has agreed to mandate that new tenants purchase a parking spot upon starting their lease. The same requirement will be mandated upon renewal of a lease.
•Fort Ave Flag Project – Dominos Sugar has offered to provide flags to all residents along Fort Ave. in support of the upcoming Star Spangled Spectacular. Residents should receive a mailing regarding this project sometime this summer.
-Jim Perra, the new pastor at the Church of the Redemption invites all neighbors to attend their concert series. The first event is Friday, June 27. Visit http://www.redemptionbaltimore.org for more information.
-Rick McDonald welcomes all neighbors to the Locust Point Worship Encounter, Thursday, June 19 7:00 pm. – 9:00 p.m. at the old fire house (1426 Fort Ave.). Contact Rick for more information.
